One of the most important attractions of Chitral are the Kalash valleys and their rich and unique culture (ethnic minority in Pakistan) Kalash means “Black” situated southwest of Chitral town between the Kunar River and the Afghan border surrounded by the Hindu Kash mountains. The Kalash people consist of 20 villages and they still follow their own religion, the mixture of animism and fire worship and have maintained their original culture. They are worshiping several gods, each god protects a different aspect of daily life for example Goshedi protects milk products, Suisan protects cattle, Praba protects fruits and Sajigor, the highest god is in charge of everything… They have a really unique culture civilization and religious values fully equipped with unchangeable traditions.
HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The origin of Kalasha still unclear and under the observation of the hypothesis, many historians and researchers made a thesis regarding their origin until now two major hypotheses have been made about the origin of Kalash people; one is their origin from Greek, second is from Aryan. The majority of people agree with the second assumption as Pakistani genetic scientists made DNA tests to examine the Greek origin of Kalash. It was cleared through conducted of a DNA tests that people of Kalash do not belong to Greek so we can believe that Kalash people belong to Aryan originality.
